2008 INTERMOUNTAIN REINING HORSE ASSOCIATION
                                                                                    CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND RULES
*All rules are based on standing as of January 1, 2008.
*All riders and horses are allowed to compete for the full year in any class that they qualify for as of January 1, 2008, with the exception of Greener
than Grass.
*All owners and exhibitors must be members of IRHA. A completed membership form must be on file with IRHA.
*Proof of ownership of every horse exhibited in an IRHA class will be required upon entry. This proof could consist of NRHA competition license,
horse registration papers or a brand inspection.
*It is the responsibility of the owner and/or rider to be aware of the official earnings of the horse and rider as recorded by IRHA and NRHA.
*18 years old or ineligible for youth class as of January 1, 2008 must pay single membership ~ not eligible to participate under family membership.
IRHA YEAR-END SADDLE AWARDS:
OPEN CHAMPION: High point winner in Open classes: Open, Intermediate Open, Limited Open, Novice Horse Open
*The earnings will be awarded to the horse (not horse-rider combination) in Open, Intermediate Open, Limited Open, Novice Horse
Open classes. The award will be presented to the owner's) of record at the completion of the IRHA awards year. No classes will be
dropped, all IRHA class points will be included.
NON PRO CHAMPION: High point winner in Non Pro classes: Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Limited Non Pro, Novice Horse Non Pro
*The earnings will be awarded on a “one horse-one rider” combination in the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Limited Non Pro and Novice
Horse Non Pro. No classes will be dropped, all IRHA class points will be included.
ROOKIE CHAMPION: High point Rookie saddle awarded to Rookie with most points accumulated throughout the year. 
This class is subject to general conditions as outlined in the NRHA handbook.  
A Lucky Draw saddle will be awarded in the class at the year-end awards banquet.  If you have previously won a lucky draw saddle you would be ineligible.
Each contestant will be provided with a ticket towards the Lucky Draw saddle at our year-end awards banquet for each time they exhibit in this class.  
GELDING/MARE/STALLION CHAMPION:  All classes will run same pattern.  The scores from all three classes will be combined (Non-Pro and Open separately)
The highest 15 horses will be given points (15 for 1st place, 14 for second and so on)  There will be one saddle awarded in the 
combined Non-Pro Gelding/Mare/Stallion classes and one awarded in the combined Open Gelding/Mare/Stallion classes based upon this point system.
Non-Pro points are based on horse /rider combination.  Open points stay with the horse.  
* YOUTH LUCKY DRAW SADDLE:  One saddle will be awarded in the 13 and under class and one in the 14-18 youth class. 
 Each exhibitor will be provided a ticket for each time they show in this class which will go into the drawing for the Lucky Draw saddle  to 
be awarded at our year-end awards banquet.
TIE BREAKER RULES
1. Contestants competing in the most shows.
2. Contestant with the most first places.
3. Contestant with the most second places.
4. Run off or coin toss (as agreed by the contestants) to be done at the end of the season.
OPEN/NON PRO, INTERMEDIATE OPEN/NON PRO, LIMITED OPEN/NON PRO, NOVICE HORSE OPEN/NON PRO: Subject to
general conditions as outlined in NRHA handbook. IRHA jackpotted.
YOUTH 13 AND UNDER & 14-18: Subject to general conditions as outlined in NRHA handbook. IRHA jackpotted.
GREENER THAN GRASS : Open to new reiners only. Those who have never shown in a reining class before. For every point you receive
based on IRHA Greener Than Grass point system you will accumulate points, once you accumulate 50 points you will receive a belt buckle and
graduate out of the class. This class is not jackpotted. You may ride one or two handed in any legal bit or hackamore. There is no year end award.
GREENER THAN GRASS POINT SYSTEM
1st place - 8 points 3rd place- 6 points 5th place - 4 points 7th place - 2 points
2nd place- 7 points 4th place - 5 points 6th place - 3 points 8th place - 1 point
One-half point for every horse that you place above. No points for zeros.
ROOKIE: Subject to general rules. Eligibility is based on eligibility for NRHA Rookie. Ineligible is the high point Rookie saddle winner from
previous years. This class is not jack potted, IRHA points will be awarded. Each rider receives a raffle ticket to go into a lucky saddle drawing at
the year-end awards. Lucky draw winner of previous years not eligible for lucky draw saddle. One handed class.
GREEN HORSE OPEN/NON PRO: Horse can not have been shown before January 1 of the year to be shown in the Green Horse class. May be
shown one handed in bridle or two handed in snaffle bit or hackamore. IRHA jackpotted.
MARE OPEN/NON PRO: A class open to Mares only, regardless of age of horse. One handed bridle. IRHA jackpotted.
GELDING OPEN/NON PRO: Open to Geldings only, regardless of age of horse. One handed bridle. IRHA jackpotted.
STALLION OPEN/NON-PRO: Open to Stallions of all ages. One handed bridle. IRHA jackpotted.
LADIES: Open to ladies only, regardless of age of horse or riders ability. One handed bridle. IRHA jackpotted.
SENIOR RIDER: A class open to any rider over the age of 45. One handed bridle. IRHA jackpotted.

1st place - 10 points 3rd place - 8 points 5th place - 6 points 7th place - 4 points 9th place - 2 points
2nd place - 9 points 4th place - 7 points 6th place - 5 points 8th place -3 points 10th place - 1 point
